Serving a Batch of Mulled Wine this Winter Season

Drink Recipes IJWDC Products

IJWDC Gift Shop was inspired to make a batch of yummy mulled wine based on one of our soy wax candles, Mulled Wine. Mulled wine is made with red wine, spices including nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon, sugar, and orange zest, and it is often served with slices of orange and cranberries.

This famous wine originated in the 2nd century and was created by the Romans who would heat wine to help defend their bodies against the cold winter weather.

We’d like to thank Ina Garten from the Food Network  for her mulled wine recipe. It is just sweet enough with layers of complex flavor that will wow your tastes buds.

Level: Easy

Total: 20 min

Prep: 10 min

Cook: 10 min

Yield: 8 servings

4 cups apple cider

1 (750-ml) bottle of red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon

1/4 cup honey

2 cinnamon sticks

1 orange, zested and juiced

4 whole cloves

3 star anise

4 oranges, peeled, for garnish

2 cranberries for garnish

Combine the cider, wine, honey, cinnamon sticks, zest, juice, cloves and star anise in a large saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Pour into mugs or our infamous Personalized Bling High Heel Mug, add an orange peel and cranberries to each and serve.

There you have it… a mulled wine to keep you warm during this frosty winter season. If serving for a dinner party, simply leave the burner on “Low“ or “Warm”, and it will stay nice and warm all night long. Also, burn our delightful Mulled Wine Soy Wax Candle, a warm and inviting blend of oranges, lemons, apple cider, and cranberries.
